Yes, we are taking a short break from our live virtual cooking classes.
Five months long, we hosted a new Learn to cook without recipes class, every Monday. Virtual, live and interactive.
Now, it’s time to take some time off. To travel. Reflect. And cook up new classes, of course.
Sign up for the wait list to receive an email when we are teaching our unique classes again.
But in the mean time, you still can learn from us
- Check out the e-cookbooks we wrote on each of the subjects we already taught
- Try out our recipes
- Read our Food for thought, taking a more philosopical approach to learning to cook
What you’ll learn at our classes
We like to think of our classes as pretty unique. as we only focus on 1 subject. All to empower you to learn to cook without having to follow recipes strictly to the letter anymore.
👩🍳 After each class you will understand the subject under study to an extend now one has ever explained them to you.
👩🍳 What the main cooking techniqus are, and how to use them in your cooking. We already covered Boil, Sauté, and Roast.
👩🍳 Other important cooking concepts, like making stock, pan sauce, roast a whole chicken, pureed soups.
👩🍳 How to play with a dish: what elements can you leave out, substitute. Examples are Braised chicken, Pilaf (one pan rice dish) and Minestrone (thick Italian soup).
👩🍳 And sometimes we even put one ingredient in the sporlight it deserves, like we did with Carrots.
👩🍳 How you can use your new found knowledge confidently and creatively in your daily cooking.
👩🍳 Watch back the class for another 6 days.
👩🍳 Each live class participant will receive an extensive e-cookbook on the subject.
Classes are open for all dietary preferences, as we try to accomodate most common dietary preference, like gluten-free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan.
Email us your questions or let us know at sign up if you have any dietary preferences.

About your chef
This class will be taught by chef Edie Dourleijn, once a picky eater who couldn’t cook.
She documented her path to eating and cooking everything as one of the first food bloggers of her home country The Netherlands (in 2006!). To learn more quickly, she looked around for classes that would help her understand what is going on in her pots and pans, but they didn’t exist. Eventually, she ended up at culinary school.
Now chef Edie teaches her Learn to cook without recipes classes for curious cooks who want to become free of recipes. Just like she once was.
